How To Travel The World For (Nearly) Free With Your Camera

I've spent the past 10 years of my life figuring out how to have my camera pay for my travels. As long as your travel plans and destinations are a little flexible, it's entirely possible to get free (or cheap) hotels and free (or cheap) experiences.

Year one using these strategies, you'll be able to get:

  • Significant Discounts on Everything Travel Related
  • Free Upgrades on Hotels
  • Access to Experiences Not Available to the Public

Travel photography is a strange industry to get into, because there are really no rules. While it is incredibly difficult to make a living being a travel photographer, if you're resourceful, genuinely interested in travel, and willing to be in control of your own future, it's entirely possible. Until it can make you a full time income, you can find a lot of ways to make deals with hotels and experience providers to get discounts, and free upgrades.

Here are the keys I've found to being successful in the travel photography industry:

  • Be a good person
  • Create good photographs
  • Understand how you can benefit your clients, before they're able to communicate it to you.

Travelling the world, and getting your camera to pay for most of it seems like an impossible dream.  One of the most common statements I get through email is ‘I wish I could travel as much as you’ and/or ‘be you for a month.’  I never know what to say to these comments, because there’s no school you have to go to, or tests you have to pass -- you just start doing it.

Honestly, it’s not that difficult. I’m not going to say that absolutely anyone can do it, but if you have an entrepreneurial mindset and enjoy the challenge of figuring new things out as you go along, it’s possible that you can be travelling the world for nearly free.

This is a topic I haven’t seen properly covered online.

Maybe this is one of those things that people that know how to do it, just shut up about it.  I’m personally not fearful that telling you these things is going to oversaturate this niche industry. The world is a big place and I hope this helps a few people do something amazing in life.

These are the blocks I used to get to where I’m at today.

While I can’t give away every secret I’ve learned,
this will be more than enough to get you started.
